I tried to relax yesterday. Didn’t read or write anything. Sought zero mental stimulation. Found myself tormented by a repetitive tune that circled and circled in my mind. Desperate for a cure I gave in to reading and have been happily tune-free since. I do certainly suffer from Monkey Mind, but today it seems like, sometimes, the best gift you can give yourself is to let the monkey do what it does best. Since then I devoured Getting it Wrong from the Beginning by Kieran Egan, and poked around on his web page and followed some interesting links. Definitely good stuff, his next book is on imagination in education. As I was poking around I was hungry for similarly compelling ideas on leadership in schools… I guess I just haven’t encountered those yet…
